Kumiko is the 5th Seated Officer of the Gotei 13's 10th Division.

Kumiko is a serious and peppy girl, who lost her hope when her younger brother and sister went missing, but she shows compassion to her friends. She is in love with Hanataro Yamada, she used to have a crush on Renji. She is hugged by both Hanataro and Yumichika; Hanataro wants Kumiko to protect him from bullies and Yumichika thinks she's very pretty, which annoys her. Hanataro has a cute crush on her that she doesn't even know. She enjoys spending time with Rangiku, Rukia and Orihime. She looks up to Rangiku as an older sister.
Kumiko has light purple eyes and long dark purple hair; her hair is worn with a long braid bound in red cloth, and bangs that frame her face. She also has a long scar that runs along the side of her neck. Her Zanpakutō is called Kusari
(chain) is a Katana with a yellow handle and a rectangle shape. Its Shikai command is "Slice". In its Shikai form, Kusari transforms into a oversized long sharp chakram attached to a long chain, allowing for it to be thrown at a distant target. The chain is attached to the hilt of her sword. She's very protective of her allies and friends and hates being caught in the middle of an arguement.
